Odd new sticker on brake pads

Hi - could you please bring this back on topic? Thank you.

The brake pad topic from last February? Copper theft? GMO foods ??

Yes, so as I said, it's not the GM crop cross pollinating, it's the farmers using the same pesticide over and over again year after year, and weeds are evolving a resistance to it.

You didn’t read the whole article. The resistant weeds were created from the cross-pollinating. The farmers started using MORE and stronger herbicide’s to kill the weeds…and the only weeds left were the cross-pollinated ones…which started flourishing

ah the good old days…
i miss asbestos.
many was the day when my mates and i used to pick the insulation off the pipes and chuck it at one another in our 4th grade basement classroom…

it does the heart good to return to see some old friends and find…

… that rick is still extolling the virtues of drum brakes…

"still extolling the virtues of drum brakes… "

They are simple, tried and true, and they do the job

But . . . there are a lot of moving parts, a lot of adjustments, etc.

And to top it off, it seems they need to be cleaned, readjusted and/or machined fairly often

Somebody could accuse me of being pessimistic, but I’m just stating what I see in the shop

Rick says drum brakes are misunderstood. I also seem to remember he said drum brakes were underappreciated

I understand drum brakes

I appreciate that . . . technically speaking . . . they are simple and stop the vehicle

However, my appreciation will not go beyond that

What kind of rear brake job would you rather do?

Pad slap?

Brake shoes, including cleaning and adjustment?

i m still trying to get the shoes on my jeep to work right… 6 months later…

:frowning:

i m not trying too hard, i got it thru inspection recently so it s not too bad. of course i did a little doctoring first…

@wesw wes wes, really, is it like this?

Speaking of Rick and drum brakes, whatever happened Robert Gift? I hope he didn’t run off a mountain road at 90 while hauling blood. I understand some of us gave him a hard time but it was interesting anyway.

I like Robert Gift just fine . . .

I’m not sure if all of you remember this next part . . .

Some of his comments about specific racial groups were not to my liking

I’m hoping his comments were merely in poor taste, and nothing else

:frowning:

Will the brake companies lobby to eliminate warning stickers on brake pads. Removing those troubling stickers would make us all much healthier and safer, dontchaknow.
