Nissan Maxima

Does anyone know how to fix a valve rattle (pre-ignition ping)on a 2003 nissan Maxima GLE v6 motor with 95,000. Happens during up hill driving and no just going on flat open hiways.

You should be using premium gas in that car. Are you?

If you are using the recommended fuel, then the first place I’d look is the ECU for stored fault codes.

It’ll probably point you toward the EGR system, which recirculates a bit of exhaust back into the intake airstream to prevent pinging and excess NOx production under load.

The other place it may send you is the knock sensor. That senses the ahock wave from pinging and prompts the ECU to compensate. But the knock sensor simply responds to pinging, the EGR valve prevents it.
