If you log out and donāt come here, after a month you get an email asking you to come back again. So I guess ya have to decide if traffic and a variety of opinions is nice or just want a place for a few angry men to agree with each other. No offense to anyone.
Having discussions and disagreeing is one thing
But the . . imo cowardly . . . rampant flagging is something else entirely
cell phone, DUI, having sex in car, reading paper, eating, makeup, shaving, trying to use the media console in newer cars. All the things that make drivers dangerous and distracted.
The colors they have now really made them hard to see on the side of the road, perfect for catching speeder. The yellow with the bubble gum lights were easy to spot, now I set my cruise and let them decide if they want to give me a ticket.
Set the cruise at the posted speed and there will not be a decision to be made.
⦠or set it to 4-5 mph over the limit. It might be different in other states, but in NJ, nobody gets ticketed for exceeding the posted speed on secondary roads by 5 mph.
On the NJ Turnpike, Garden State Parkway, and the various Interstate highways, the State Troopers routinely ignore people driving 8-10 mph over the posted speed unless those drivers are exhibiting aggressive driving behavior by cutting people off or tailgating.
It is not a set practice but on the Oklahoma Turnpikes you can get stopped for 5 mph over and there will be a chance to meet the drug sniffing dog .
on a long trip of 800 miles on multi-lane highways I usually drive 80 and cars are passing constantly. I donāt need to be the leader of the pack but I see a lot of that mentality, I pass some one and they speed up for a couple of miles they donāt want anyone driving faster than them. I operate my vehicle when Iām on the road, I know what cars are around me, Iām not on my phone texting, reading a paper, doing my makeup, having the dog on my lap. When I am on the rural roads I donāt go above 5 mph over the limit, I donāt get tickets here.
Here you can see the Jersey plates coming from Canada doing the exact speed limit, those are the ones carrying the drugs.
I might get up to 80 for a few moments in order to get past an erratically-driven vehicle that Iām trying to avoid, but I wouldnāt try driving at that speed for more than a very brief stretch. 74-75 mph on an expressway with a 65 mph posted speed is the fastest that Iāll go.
Not profiling at all, are we?
Yup seen that, shaving, fixing hair.
There are places in this country with 80, mph speed limits. I have see 75 mile speed limits in Michigan.
Phillip is on the East Coast I think. The closest state to him with 80 mph speed limit is Oklahoma and the Turner Turnpike only has that for 13 miles of its 100 miles length.
Plus how does he know that a vehicle with New Jersey plates has been to Canada for drugs ?
South Dakota is 80 on the interstates and 65 on the two lanes. I usually donāt like to drive moevthan 75 though regardless of the posted.
Some years ago we were at the western border of South Dakota. My wife bought a 500 page book and told the clerk that would get her through the state as we headed east.
When you live next to the border and you come upon a vehicle doing 65 on the interstate with New Jersey plates you know they do not want to draw the attention of border patrol or the state police. When I am driving 75 in a 65 the majority of the plates that fly past are Massachusetts, New Jersey and Quebec.
@VOLVO-V70 sign another one up for anger management class.
