WOW. Truthsayers have faced this since the dawn of time. I don’t even know how to respond to this at this time of night.
You know they silenced Socrates and many other truth sayers in history…..
Silence anyone who you disagree with….hmm…who else likes to do that, someone everyone knows…..never mind.
You know DB I agree with many things you have said, I thought people on the west coast tended to be more open minded and tolerant than what we experience in Indiana. Lets do better in 2026!
There is so much being written about being able to speak your mind without being attacked…
And it is not new… President Franklin D. Roosevelt in his 1941 State of the Union address outlined what he felt was the four basic freedoms essentials to all people and first and foremost was Freedom of Speech.
Norman Rockwell painted a series of indelible images that stand among our nation’s most significant cultural icons and constitutional rights: Freedom of Speech, along with the other freedom FDR spoke of… Freedom of Worship, Freedom from Want, and Freedom from Fear.
To illustrate Freedom of Speech, Norman Rockwell was inspired by a scene that he had recently witnessed: during a town-hall meeting, a man stood up to speak about a topic on the agenda. It was regarding the closing of a school. He did not obtain the agreement of the room, but the other citizens who were present listened to him respectfully, without interrupting him.
The main character is a younger man wearing work clothing and is surrounded by older men, wearing traditional suits and ties, but who are looking at him with a degree of respect for the young man’s speech. The young man appears to be unfazed by his dress in the midst of this formality, he focuses instead on the subject, the closing of a school that concerned him to the extent that he felt it necessary to attend this meeting and speak his mind and he does…
I’ve been listening to Car Talk since they went on Npr in 88 or 89. This forum has had such a diverse grouo of opinions and experience where we may noit have the same qualifications but different points of view are still valid. I approach things from the way I grew up and the vehicles I’ve had experience with
. Some prefer cars that dont appeal to me but I can respect their passion, I just ask they show the same courtesy. The shows covered a wide variety of topics in its run. Can’t say we agreed with Tom & Ray every time but were entertained every Saturday. Dad and I would spend the day together running errands listening on xm radio ti a car Talk marathon. Woth dad asking me sometimes what Car are they talking about?
Souvenir photo from an event at the museum of history and industry in Seattle where dad and I got ti hear the brothers live from the studio in Boston while locals lined up to ask the guys questions. Forgot the exact year.
Chris, you act like you break ZERO laws EVER, PLEASE just stop with your holier than thou attitude about the speed limit law!!! gzzzzz… Any law broken is a law broken…
You say if we don’t like it then to contact our legislators, well take some of YOUR own advise, if YOU don’t like it, contact your legislators about doing something about it, and or join Law Enforcement…
Just pointing out that people who drive below the speed limit become targets. I see it almost every day. Drivers will cut you off inches from the front of your vehicle. Other drivers will drive inches from your bumper. Based on your statements here - you won’t survive one week in Boston traffic.
+1
A few days ago, I was driving behind a guy who was doing a steady 28 mph on a road where the posted speed is 45 mph, and the prevailing speeds are 50, or a bit more. It was a dry and sunny day, with no ice on the pavement. I restrained myself from tailgating that fool, but I can understand why people who are merely trying to go about their daily business can become enraged at those who think that it is their right to delay everyone else.
I worked with a guy who was a total a-hole driver. Driving down a single lane road with no passing and speed limit was 45 - If no one was behind him then he’d drive 60+. If someone was behind him, he’d drop to 30 just to ■■■■ him off.
U.S. attorney Thompson estimates at this point. And just one state. Some think that’s ok since likely some of it got funneled back to the right people. Let’s do drug money next.
I’m all for it. Let it all hang out. Clean house. In a former life, the dems thought I was a repub and the republicans thought I was a dem. I just called it as I saw it, still. Regardless of what a few of you believe. In this jolly time of year, I have been surrounded by educators at various functions. I find it telling that not one has mentioned or condemned the growing Minnesota frsud.
Read a wonderful column this morning regarding resolutions and cofessions. Among them shopping carts. I have never failed to return a shopping cart. In fact two days ago I just wheeled it back inside Walmart. I have never taken a dime that didn’t belong to me, even being broke. A clerk gave me an. Extra $20 one time and I returned it, needing that 20 pretty badly. When I hit home from Walmart I discovered that I had failed to swipe a $5 package of muffins. Next trip I swiped it twice to make sure their inventory was correct. When I was a kid at the Atlantic store, mom gave me a dollar for the games. I loved that driving game. When I went to get my quarters, the cover was off of the change machine with handfuls of quarters for the taking. I went and found a clerk.
