the CR chart that showed these rates of aging, did not specify how serious (or not) the problems were. just a basic count.
elsewhere, CR does chart the specific problem areas most models develop. with just about every manufacturer, early problems tend to be with Body integrity and Power equipment. (like the windows on your Odyssey) which in some cars happen as early as the 1st and 2nd year.
more serious problems occur as vehicles age.
brakes and exhaust systems will likely occur with the Lexus, far, far down the line. and the engine and transmission further yet. the same cannot be said for hyundais and fords, which have developed serious problems sooner.
so conceivably, the 2000 lexus could still outlast even a 2007 hyundai or ford. and you’d SAVE a lotta money to boot!
