Neighbor says 30 MPG from a 1967 427 V-8; I say boooooooogus

Perhaps he’s reading the kilometer odometer! I remember we had a friend with a new Corvette when gas was 35 cents a gallon. He told us he was getting 40 to 50 MPG and was proud of it. We never told him we were sneaking gas into his car while he was working. It was hard to keep a straight face. Even more fun was when he would put a piece of cardboard under his car to check for leaks. A few drops of oil every other day was driving him and his mechanics crazy. Hey! What are friends for???
