Well, it looks like the problem was solved. You know the idiom, “no good deed goes unpunished”?
When I initially posted this, it was soon after having the starter replaced. The “mechanic” who replaced it was not my regular mechanic because the starter failed while I was out of town. This fellow just happened to be parked next to me in a hospital parking lot when this occurred. He was just starting out on his own and although I have no religion in me, I’m a big believer in the fates and that everyone merits an opportunity, so, I had the car towed to his moms house where he had set-up his temporary repair facility and allowed him to “fix” it. [Yes, I know, this was a sign, but… c’est la vie].
It turns out not only did he not install it properly, but left out a bracket which my regular mechanic didn’t catch until he did some research. I’m sure all of you pros will agree, cars have too many parts and accessories to know every single one. Anyway, he replaced what was missing, put the starter in the position it is supposed to be and voilà - problem fixed - I hope!
