Mystery on Main Street: The Case of the Perplexing Pacífica - Continues to Perplex!

When warmed up at normal operating temp, or at cold start up for a few minutes only??

1200 rpms is a lot for a normal idle, unless you have a race care engine in it… lol

What is your coolant temp sensor reading at start up and warmed up using a scanner??

Hahaha… you’re right. I ran out and started it just so I could answer the question. It does idle properly however, I’m not sure at what rpm.

You mean your vehicle does not have a Tachometer (RPM gauge) in it?? you can use a decent scan tool to verify…

Or did you just take a wild guess and say 1200 rpm??

Yes, it has a tach, thus how I was able to determine and post 1200.

That statement made it seem like it does not have a tach…

A little confusing… and not sure why the rolling eyes after saying your not sure at what rpm…

Why could you read the 1200 rpms, but now, not know what the rpms are???

As Dave noted, 1200 is 400-500 more than it should be after coming off high idle. Usually not more than a minute, perhaps a little longer in very cold weather.

1200 might still be the warm-idle spec if the A/C is on, headlights are on, or the battery needs recharging etc.
