Motor oil

I had started using semi-synthetic oil in my 2002 Ford Windstar. It worked great! My van ran nicely,no noise, just a pleasure to be in,then, my wife got high milage oil in the van and now it sounds like a truck. Is there any difference between the two oils? I’d like to go back to the blend.

Sure, go back to the blend (is that the Motorcraft blend?) Just make sure it’s the right weight. No need to use the high mileage oil, it just swells seals to reduce leaks.

You’re safe going back to what you trust.

I do not see how changing to a high mileage oil makes a night and day difference in the way the engine sounds.

Different weight or an error when refilling. I would want to make sure it was not over or under filled.

I’d be worried if the type of oil made a difference in the sound of the engine.

You can safely switch from one type to another any time, as long as you use the viscosity recommended in the owner’s manual.
