Mileage moniter dropping miles fast

I would say it is not a miscalculation. The mpg is based on the fuel being sent through the injectors. Not likely wrong.

Thanks…maybe i should play it safe and visit a local mechanic…

I’m not a mechanic. Bad readings though from several sensors can certainly cause poor mpg. I’d be more concerned about engine damage though from low oil but hard to determine.

I hear you and thanks…funny thing though…aside from the mileage dropping rapidly on the cpu its driving fine…and i have no errors showing up on the obd2 scanner…just the fuel trim and air intake temp on live data…anyway ill post the mechanics findings so maybe someone else can learn from my mistake. Thanks for your help

If your display only shows one feature at a time just have it show the outside temperature or trip miles you have driven or current mpg ( those numbers really change quick ) and forget this Miles to empty. Use the silly fuel gauge .

+1 I had one of those 3.8 L engines, it was an oil burner (it was also badly abused by the previous owner, so I knew I was inheriting a lot of problems when I bought it).
