does it cause permanent damage to a hybrid engine to drive it with a loose oil cap? the dealer said there was enough oil in it. 2011 Toyota Prius
The only problem with a loose oil cap is that some oil may splash out. If the engine still retains a sufficient amount of oil there is no damage at all.

Steve is right as long as the motor still had oil in it, then it will be 100% fine… No harm
Concur with the others. If it did splash oil out, feel free to press the oil change place to pay for an engine bay cleaning. No reason your car should smell like old caked on oil already.
