OP, going forward you’ll serve your own interests better to find a good inde shop to repair and maintain your car for you. Ask friends, co-workers, relatives, fellow-church goers etc who they use, choose from that list a shop that specializes in your make of car.

My niece lives in KC, 400 miles away. So a while back she called and said she was coming through and wanted to get together with some relatives for dinner. So I got to the restaurant and waited about 45 minutes and no one showed up. I finally called and found out I was a week early.
Late or early, the result is the same.
@galant, you did the right thing by walking away from that Caravan. Sounds like that guy is not only an inconsiderate boor but a conniving weasel also.
He probably wanted nowhere near a DMV as what he was trying to do was probably illegal as can be; as in curbstoning or title jumping.
