Looking for a cheap used car

I don’t know where you are but here in NE Oklahoma useing the web i saw lots of better vehicles under 10000 than this rebuilt thing you are looking at .

You will never get the cost figures and if you do get some numbers you will not be able to verify them.

You need to do better web search , there are all kinds of sources .

That link is not even in the U.S. of A.

I hope you know that you are looking at a Ukraine website that is selling these vehicles…

This is at the bottom of the website:
Cars from the USA, purchase and delivery to Ukraine from auctions in America (Copart, IAAI, Manheim), Korea, Europe, UAE

Just scanning the responses. I don’t recall exactly but in some cases in minnesota for a rebuilt title, it needs to be inspected first by the patrol or someone. Then they will issue the title.

I’m generally not in favor of buying one because it will be hard to sell again and you take a big price hit. But you can get a good car for a bargain. My son bought one at a very good price and we never had any problem except one rear wheel seemed to be a little out of alignment. Never had to sell it because he was sandwiched in an accident and totaled.

When I hit a deer with my riv it was totaled and they paid me off and I bought it back. I fixed it and my insurance agent just needed to see the repair for insurance. No change in rates on either son’s car or the riv.

So if you are careful and don’t intend to sell, it can be a way to save money.

Lets see - Hail damage - Salvage/rebuilt title - Buy here/Pay here car lot - makes some strange noises - the price seems to be high for this vehicle. How many Red Flaggs does this person need to realize to keep looking ?

Fairly sure it was Copart that auctioned the vehicle, has yards all over the country and sells donations and clean titled cars as well but salvage is a good part of their auctions. Can’t see what the auction ended at from their search function.

Additionally, as our late friend, ok4450 told us, he once worked for a dealer who took two wrecked Chevys (one with front damage, one with rear damage) and–literally–cut and pasted them together. As you can guess, the car was a total disaster for the poor customer.

I/we (work) used to do basic services on lots of bhph lots with rebuilt titles, and I have seen many front core supports ape welded on, zip ties would have been stronger…
Also raised one up for an oil change and the entire rear cradle stayed on the ground… lol
I called them and said to bring a flat bed and get it off my rack ASAP… They do not do any kind of a safety inspection cause I have seen some pure unsafe junk being sold, I have also fault with check engine lights just to find out that the engine compartment was Frankenstein’d together and nothing matched up, what a pain…
I have seen some really nice and well done rebuilt titles also, but I would never buy one…

Of course this is in my little part of the world… Yours might/will differ…

There were a lot of replies which I don’t have time to read so if someone already covered this, sorry.

I think the Mazda 3 is a better car than the Toyota Yaris, and I’m a huge Toyota fan, but that Yaris is small and sort of worries me if there was an accident. Also the Mazda has roughly 45 more horses while giving the car about 4 mpg more than the Yaris. But the Mazda has a much better interior and a more modern exterior, and because of the interior and the exterior it has a higher resale than the Yaris.

So my vote goes to the Mazda.

This Mazda that is being looked at has hail damage, Salvage/Rebuilt title and several noises that might be expebsive to fix .

So you might want be take back your vote.

@froze, don’t forget that the Mazda seems to have been auctioned in Ukraine before shipping to the US. See @Stinky1’s link to the auction sale above.

The auction was in Earlington, Kentucky. The auction web site in Ukraine was a service to bring cars to Ukraine.

Thanks for the clarification.

Welp, if the 3 has all that damage then forget it obviously.

Hail damage doesn’t need to be repaired, it is nothing more than an old car, not a collector’s item.

I have one word for the original poster:

Cargurus.

Landed my Honda Accord via them

Or AutoTempest, I’ve used both to compare but Auto Tempest will show Craigslist listings in other markets along with CarGurus, Auto Trader, among others. I’m a fan of the Mazda3 but would prefer the OP get one in better condition even if they end up spending closer to the top of the budget.

Thanks for the suggestions about cargurus and auto tempest guys, I’ll check it out and hopefully find more options.

The mechanic I took it to and trust just called me back and said everything on the car looks good, aside from the obvious dents. I didn’t expect that but cool I guess. These guys previously diagnosed a bad TECHM in the transmission of an SUV my sister now owns. The transmission specialty shop had the same diagnosis.

KBB puts this car with a clean title at about $5,000 and salvage history knocks it down 20-40% on top of that. So I’m looking at maybe $3,000-$4,000 private party. Even with the okay from the mechanic he’s gonna have to come down a bit.

I’d really like a camry/corolla or something that doesn’t have 250,000+ miles but I still haven’t seen one in my price range.

Facebook isn’t as useful as it used to be. I seen a couple on there thwt got me interested but once you click them theres the big red “SOLD” in the corner of the listing lol.

Don’t EVER buy anything off Fakebook - or Craigs List. Those two sites are fraud-filled toilets!

You are going about this vehicle search all wrong . There are lots of useful web sites with used vehicle listings . Facebook - Market Place are not worth your time.

Of course you have never said where you are or if there is a Carmax near you .
