You don’t say what part you need. Is your mechanic at a Land Rover dealer? If so, take the SUV to an independent shop and see what they can do or find.
Finding no-longer-made parts can be difficult to impossible. Google is your friend. Look for Land Rover Discovery Clubs and forums. They can often find old stocks of parts that collectors squirrel away or can suggest a similar part that can be used with a little modification or a bracket. Used parts from salvage yards can sometimes solve that problem.
