In your screenshot, Carolyn set up the category as “Ask Someone Who Owns One”, not “aswoo”.
She used the acronym in conversation. Carolyn is a person, not the name of the website main page.
I’m also human, but I make the conscious choice to communicate clearly by avoiding acronyms beyond the basics: lol for instance
I did not see that. What I saw was to email or direct message them. The questions usually involved basic things like is the check engine light on?
If Caroline reassigned the Ask Someone into a different category, how would we know? But we would still need the missing information.
Some of us who have been around for 20 years or so remember the old car talk rant and rave section. It was a place to discuss anything. Historically, it was never a place for Strict questions and answers on a car repair. The new folks may not like it but that’s what made the site more popular. A few years ago there was an off shoot site strictly for mechanics that appears to have died on the vine.
They’ve had special sections of this forum over the years. The community was created as an extension of the show and a way to try and help more than could fit into a weekly broadcast.
Multiple site platforms over the last 20+yrs.
Used to be like/dislike/off topic buttons for each post.
After the posts were reassigned, there is an edit symbol on the original post. She stated it was easier to delete incoherent posts when there are no replies. Incoherent posts seemed to draw attention and replies from some people.
Start your own Rant-and-Rave posts. You shouldn’t latch on to another person’s thread to discuss your garage door. I can’t see anyone flagging a thread as off topic if the topic is “garage door”.
The problem with general discussions in the past; they developed into climate change debates with Angry Mike. Then Carolyn would let it fester for 3 days before closing the thread.
