I was told by a mechanic that in order to repair the check engine light, they would have to replace the knock sensors. He would have to pull everything from the manifold on up to get to the Knock Sensors. cost of about $1700. I can see the sensors why can’t they be serviced with out going to this much work?
You should check with another service shop and see what they say about this repair. This isn’t sounding right. Also, since the code states ‘circuit malfunction’ this indicates the wiring to the sensor needs to be checked for trouble rather than just replacing the sensor. A new sensor may not fix that problem.
I agree. This sounds like a fishing expedition for a “boat payment”.
