Kia Rio check engine light on, can’t figure out what’s wrong.
I have a Kia Rio 2013. Recently the check engine light went on, the OBD2 reader tells me “p2191 system too lean at higher load bank 1” and “p0130 o2 sensor circuit bank 1 sensor 1”. The car is shaking on idle, but goes away after sometime of driving, mileage is higher than usual, and acceleration is off (sometimes taking a while, sometimes quicker than usual), recently found some soot coming from the exhaust (after brake pad, rotor and caliper change so idk if it’s related)I took it to my mechanic and he checked it out and he can’t find anything wrong, and said I probably need to get my injectors replaced from carbon build up. I’m wondering if it could be something else? He can’t see the injectors until the looks under the engine, so it’s gonna be expensive and I wanna be sure before I do it, He told me to drive it around for sometime and get back to him later. I’m considering taking it somewhere else or maybe the Kia service center. Any ideas on what this could be, or any advice?
Pls help!
Before replacing the fuel injectors it might make sense to clean them. You can do this yourself or have a mechanic do it. It does not appear that your mechanic suggested this. Why not? It’s less invasive and expensive than replacing the injectors.
If you do it yourself, buy the injector cleaning fluid at your local parts store and follow the directions on the bottle to dump it into the fuel tank. The last time I did something like this the instructions said to pour the correct amount (usually one bottle) into the gas tank and then fill the tank to mix it well. You would do this at your normal gas fill with a quarter tank or less.
Yeah he did not. I have been thinking about doing it anyway, So I’m gonna go ahead and try this first. another thing is that my gas cap doesn’t ‘click’ when I close it, I wonder if that has any effect? Maybe I should replace that too? Since its a quick and easy fix anyway.
Thanks!
