Yeah, there is as much similarity between the Alenza 001 RFT’s and the Dueler HL Alenza as there is between a Cady CT5 with a 2.0 Turbo and the GMC Silverado with a 5.3 LS engine in it…
I never was a fan of the 001 RFT’s…
I’ve actually seen something like that. Back when I was a high school kid in LA in the mid-80’s, I spent a Saturday night at my cousin’s house. Early Sunday morning I was headed home, I had just merged on to the 405 from the Harbor Freeway and alongside me pulled a Nova with no hood, and a guy sitting on the right fender/cowl tuning the engine. At 60mph on the San Diego Freeway.
I’m in my 70’s and I embrace change - if it’s for the better. I love technology.and the advancements in technology that have made our lives better.
I’m 55 this year and hate hate hate change (OCD), but I just deal with it like everything else life has kicked me in the teeth with…
I can’t stand it when my phone does an update and changes stuff…
The last few updates my laptop has done changed my google chrome and defaults to yahoo search engine which in turn I loose my google mail and pictures etc etc, I have to figure out how to change it all back… Stupid, just stupid, leave my Sh*t alone…
Changing my stuff is like moving my tools around in my tool boxes, that will get you hurt…
I’ve never had the run flats but seem to remember a few years ago the son had to replace one for about $500.
Back to reality though, if they are only good for 50 miles or so at 50 mph, it isn’t much better than a space saver spare. I guess I’ve never had two flats at the same time. I have had tire problems hundreds of miles from home where a space saver or run flat would do no good. You either get to a tire shop to get it fixed or replaced.
My girlfriend’s car came equipped with run flat tires
They wore out incredibly fast, imo
I hate when stores reset their aisles just after you learn where everything is located.
My fear is when technology passes my ability to adapt. Which it somewhat has. On the other hand, I like to be able to call somebody just by saying “call XYZ” or answer the phone by pushing a button on the steering wheel.
As a retired software engineer manager and architect in a certified Microsoft shop - I’ve never heard of or seen that happening. And I’ve been working with Microsoft products for DECADES. Only way I’ve ever seen the default search engine change is when the user specifically changes it or is asked to change and you then clicked Yes/OK.
Also, being able to say “read texts” while driving is really convenient. If I’m expecting a text reply, having it read to me is much better than having to pull over in order to look at the phone.
Apple CarPlay does that for Mrs JT in her Odyssey. She doesn’t ask for it (she doesn’t know how) and the texts show up. She answers or not as she chooses. She loves that feature, btw.
Yep, I would like to be able to choose the voice, some cars probably do have that option. When Tom-Tom was around you could select to voice giving you your GPS directions. Yoda was available and would, allegedly do it in Yoda’s grammar. “Turn here left you must.”
This is unfortunately often a sign of malware. If nothing else, check your installed Chrome extensions and see if you have any that look suspicious.
When MS does the bigger updates, It’s default is to try and get you to switch to Edge for the browser and Bing for the search engine, but gives you the option to keep what you have.
If it’s switching you to yahoo, you have something else going on.
The Sat Nav system in my 2011 Outback had that option. The default voice was an American woman, but you could switch to an American man, or a British woman, or a British man.
As an experiment, I switched to the British man’s voice. While it was pretty classy to be hearing someone like Laurence Olivier giving me my road directions, it also resulted in the use of British jargon, such as referring to entrance and exit ramps as “slip roads”.
After a couple of days, I switched back to the American woman.
It’s happened to my wife, my son and myself, on all 3 different brand name (might still come out of the same factory lol) laptops, mine is a normal everyday HP, both my wife’s and my sons are both gamming laptops and both expensive, wife’s made me want to cry when I paid for it… lol
All 3 are running windows 11 and all 3 have done it a few times…
Every time it has happened Google Chrome almost looks the same except the search engine swapped over to Yahoo and all the google stuff at the top right area like:
Gmail - Images - Search Labs (thingy) - Google apps (9 dots thingy) - Google Account:
are all gone, but all the book marks and everything else seems to all be normal…
I have thought about asking about it cause I know you are an expert at this stuff…
If I can remember I will screen shot the after and then the way it is set now once I remember how again and post it or PM it to you…
My wife has crashed her laptop and started back from scratch a few times… She never opens unknown emails and NEVER opens a link in an email or redirect, even if something is sent saying such and such and is legit, she will delete the email and go to the main website to see what the link was all about…
Although it is possible, I don’t think it is probable we all three at the same time got the same malware as we don’t share anything other than WIFI on the laptops…
As far as I can tell, which isn’t much, everything in Chrome extensions looks normal…
Other than the Yahoo thing, nothing else has changed or is affected that any of us have found…
Is Windows Defender active? It should catch most computer invasions.

You should NEVER EVER get on the internet without running a Virus protector. URLs you think might be safe may not be. When my kids were little my virus blocker was blocking viruses from Nickelodeon.
As an extra step - I only get on the internet through a VM. If there ever is a problem - I destroy the VM and copy over a new one from the backup. The VM gives a layer of protection to the rest of my data on the laptop.

You should NEVER EVER get on the internet without running a Virus protector
+1
I’ve been using Bitdefender for ~4 years, and I like it better than other antivirus programs that I’ve used in the past. In addition to Bitdefender, CR also recommends Avast, AVG, Avira, and Eset. Some of them even have a free version without all of the bells and whistles.
