what would cause my 2001 Dodge 4X4 diesel to shift from OD to 3rd and back to OD numerous times? It does NOT happen during acceleration unless I let up on the pedal. It acts better if I put the cruise control on at most speeds
Are you sure its O/D and not TCC lockup thats dropping off?? TCC lockup is much more pronounced (Noticeable) on a Dodge diesel during lockup. One of the most common problems in these Dodge diesels when falling in and out of lockup is the TPS. I have also seen the trans temp sensor and electrical noise from the alternator cause the symptoms you describe. We first need to determine whether it is lockup or overdrive that we are coming out of.
What does Jasper have to do with this??? Is this a Jasper rebuild?? If it is, how long has it been in there?? How many miles on the Jasper??
