Whatever car you end up getting remember to factor into your up front out of pocket costs having the money to pay the sales tax, licensing/registration fees, and insurance premium which may be higher than what your premiums have been depending on what vehicle you get.
A grandmother car, think crown vic, grand marquis, town car, or any of the larger Buicks.
Bubbly must be a regional term, never heard of it.
Hard to say if a Credit Union would finance such a vehicle.
I doubt the OP would be interested in an old car. The op’s damaged Corolla has a 28 mpg city rating, Grand Marquis = 15 mpg.
I’m not a finance expert but $300/month is $3600/year. It would take 10 years to pay back the principal on a $35,000 loan. 12 year auto loan?
“Bubby Car” - Grandmother Car, One owner Sedan literally driven by “Little Old Lady” who never took it over 55 MPH, 2,000 RPM, always took it to the Dealer for everything including filling the tires and washer fluid, rarely driven in the rain, never in the snow and the car most teenagers “wouldn’t be caught dead in”.
The kind of used car that taxi drivers previously would have immediately snatched up but today are greeted by even Buy Here/Pay Here dealers with a grimace.
Or driven by The Little Old Lady from Pasadena!
It’s Bubbie (or Bubby), which is Yiddish slang for Grandmother.
BTW from the financial side last month I was helping a neighbor find a replacement vehicle for his kid who had beaten the heck out of their 2011 Honda Civic and located a 2009 Buick, 75,000 miles, clean, no rust or dents, everything operational, State Inspected, from his mother’s estate that he was asking $5,000 negotiable.
Smaller Credit Union was willing to finance it at a rate between Used Car and Personal Loan rates for a 2-3 year term.
Hard to imagine that the total cost of ownership Loan Repayment, Maintenance & Repair, Insurance would greatly exceed $300/month, ($7200 total even on a 2 year life).
$5,000 for the car, $2,000 for 2 years insurance, $500 for maintenance for a total of $7,500 and then in 2 years your monthly cost of ownership drops down to about $100/month.
A closing fee to buy a vehicle? Never heard of one, never paid one and never will. One we agree on a price I will pay sales tax, a modest document fee and nothing else. Any add ons will kill the deal.
Math is hard. If you need to check your credit score, you should not be financing.
I think VOLVO meant Dealer documentation fees

Not for the past couple of years it hasn’t been, especially when some dealerships are charging just as much, if not more, for the 3-4 year old car versus new.
Show me ad for 3-4 yr old car that is equal to same new car. BS.
Prove it or stfu.
I called my grandmother Bubba. Since it’s a transliteration either bubby or bubba is acceptable. It’s the same with my grandfather. My cousins called him Jeddie and my sister and I called him Jedo. He liked either, and I’ve seen it both ways outside our family.
Its zaydie
