Totally agree with JT. Cars getting higher mileage has been a problem for collecting road taxes for a while and many places are talking about an annual mileage tax in addition or in lieu of. Interesting in my latest State Farm bill, with Onstar, I can sign up to pay insurance according to mileage as reported to them by Onstar. The other manufacturers are getting there.
I really have a hard time believing that electric vehicles will be making a major impact though in the near future. Makes people feel good but dought whether 80% will be electric in 10-20 years. We’ve got wind mills up the wazoo in Minnesota and just end up destroying the landscape but not contributing more than 10% to the power grid. Maybe with a major battery breakthrough or instant recharge but there aint a whole lot of research money out there right now either.
