As much as I like you whitey, I have I think a pertinent prospective. Among things I manage is GIS, now there are a lot of different programs and any place you go to has different standards. It is just as easy for me to train a newbie to our standards, programs, and practices as to retrain a person that has had a different program experience. I have found past experience is valuable, but not as valuable as one might think.
I once took a test for an insurance company, scored the highest recorded score on the aptitude or whatever test it was, and did not get te job. To me and I am sure we have all worked with different people, is to hire the ones I think will be happy and excel at duties as assigned.
