Way back I was infected with the Brit Sportscar bug while driving my sisters MG Midget, convertible top, 4 speed stick, great engine sound and my goodness, Wire Wheels!!!
Once infected I suffered multiple relapses with a Jag XKE, Triumph TR6 and a long term infection with a MG TD.
Of all those cars, the best with today’s speeds would be the TR6, especially one with the optional overdrive,
As far as initial cost, maintenance cost and reasonable comfort the stock MGB would be my runaway first choice. Literally ALL the parts are available, at a reasonable cost and only requiring the most basic DIY skills to keep it running
Agree… but the VOLUME of DIY skills applied to keep it running are immense. Brit car lovers seem to always be adjusting things…

I got an MGB catalog from Moss Motors just to see all the parts available, both stock and upgrades.
Yeah, people seem to forget when the Normal Maintenance Schedule was 6,000 - 12,000 miles which included “Points, Plugs and Lube” and on Brit Cars also included “Clean, Synchronizing, Lubricating and Adjusting the Carbs” and “Filing the Points” on the fuel pump.
While time consuming, most of it involved no special tools and on the plus side. Mrs Beancounter always knew where I was.
On the Moss Motors MGB catalog, thanks to the huge number of MGBs sold worldwide and British Motor Heritage, you can literally build a new MGB today from the parts catalog.
So again, why would anyone logically want to buy an EV Frankenstein when you could buy a new/used original for between $5,000 and $20,000 depending on condition?
