Interesting. You’d think with 100+ years of auto-manufacturer’s testing & installing connecting rod bearings in their new engines, it would be nearly impossible for a batch of bad bearing shells to ever reach the production floor. Sort of similar to the puzzle how hospitals can make obvious mistakes that harm their patients even though they have years of experience knowing the correct methods. I’ve heard it said the most dangerous activity an ordinary person will do during their lifetime is check into a hospital.
