I want to go hunting! -- Suburban transmission & spedometer issues

Hi! I want to tow my old Jeep for a hunting trip this weekend but my 2004 Suburban is giving me the heebie-jeebies. The transmission has been slow to respond for a couple of months and I haven’t had a chance to get it checked out – it takes a moment to kick in, like when switching from reverse to drive, which tends to cause the car to jump.

Then, last night, my spedometer stopped working properly. When idle, it reads at about 70 mph and then it goes up from there.

Could the transmission issue be related to the spedometer issue?

My Onstar could find nothing on the diagnostic I ran.

Is it too risky to drive 2 hours towing a 1980 Jeep this weekend?

Thanks for any advice!

The speedometer problem is very common on these trucks. GM just announced they were extending the warranty to 70k for this problem.
