Oh no! What if the sale gets even better?!?! They may want to really dump any 2015 models that remain next month so the sale might get EVEN BETTER!
As for the seats, there are people who have replaced them on past cars if the seats were broken down or they wanted an upgraded seat. I don’t really know if that would be possible as these have airbags built into the seats. I got seat covers and they had to be airbag compatible to the airbag can just rip through the seat covers if needed.
My driveway is like 1/2 mile long and I don’t feel like getting into my seat belt until I have gotten out to open and close my gate. The stupid thing will ding you to death and it is a switch inside the buckle. I haven’t disabled this because I am worried it might impact the airbag operation. So far this is the most annoying thing about the Mirage to me. Otherwise it is a good small cheap car, something many will never appreciate. There is definitely a love it or hate it mentality with this segment.
"My driveway is like 1/2 mile long and I don’t feel like getting into my seat belt until I have gotten out to open and close my gate."
You need a gate opener with remote. CSA
I have thought about getting one of those solar gate openers. Unfortunately the gate was installed prior to my purchase of the property and am not sure it would be compatible with that setup. Also, how secure are they? Now anyone could just cut the chain or lock and be in but it keeps the honest, and more important, the LAZY people out. That is too much work for the unemployable druggie derelicts that cause the problems in this area. We have a clan up the road that is like something out of the movie “Winter Bone”.
Wow! Hertz has a lot of these. Personally I would rather pay the new price of $10,000 or so than get it for only about $2000 off list and have about 30k worth of hard rental car miles on it. You know people drive rental cars hard. Maybe another $2000 off and I would consider it…
Another issue with getting a rental is that this probably kicks out all possibility of their being a manual transmission in the mix of their available used cars. I would insist on getting the CVT fluid changed before purchase as one of the conditions.
This one didn’t make the cut this time around! The Versa on the other hand did. This is a car I didn’t even bother to look at. If people on the Geo Metro and Mirage Forums are bashing it, it must not be a good car. Only Nissan and Chrysler have had those honors!
That is a wacko web site that sells advertising. “Brands too dangerous to drive”, Buick, Chevrolet, Ford, Nissan, Ram, Hyundai, Kia, Scion, Jaguar and Mini are condemned because of safety flaws on some models. I think they didn’t take the time to look at Mitsubishi and some others for flaws.
Yeah, I agree but thought it was funny. I hate pretty much all those “list” type sites. You have to look and look to be sure you are hitting the next button and not some ad. They make it this way on purpose.
Nope, and a new version was released a few days ago with the 2017 models. I personally prefer the hatchback but compacts typically sell much better when a sedan version is offered.
@cwatkin You know the “all new” 2017 Mirage really dates backs to 2013 right. It has been sold in the Philippines for a couple years now, and was sold as a Dodge in Mexico last year. Seems like Mitsubishi didn’t want to go all in on a truly “all new” car for the American market. So they just brought a car from 2013 for the 2017 model year instead. To me that says they they know The U.S. market has become less and less profitable for them over the past decade or so, and they know they aren’t likely to recoup the R&D costs of a localized new subcompact car, so they chose to punt. This don’t bode well for Mitsubishi staying in the the U.S. market IMHO.
Yeah, I know this has been out for a while in other markets, including under the Dodge Attitude name. I know it isn’t a quantum leap or completely new design. It is the same thing they did with the Geo Metro. There was a hatchback version and then a sedan version. It was all the same underneath and if you lined them up where you could only see the fronts, you couldn’t tell them apart. I am sure this is no different but MANY cars are this way. The fronts of many SUVs look just like the pickup they are based off of and all the mechanicals are essentially the same. I don’t see this as a bad thing but do think Mitsubishi has other more pressing issues for sure.
At least they are trying. This car will likely capture more buyers in the small car market for them so I actually think it isn’t a bad idea. A few other improvements will make the 2017 models more attractive. It is the engine, braking, and handling improvements that appeal to me but there are also cosmetic and tech upgrades which are probably a very good idea.
This is a cheap car and there is no way around that. I sell and service computers and other technological items. When you get into the cheaper stuff, people buy it more often because it “looks good” and not because it has decent performance. Sometimes if I get used items traded in, the people want to keep one unit and get rid of the one but allow me to take my pick. There have been many times where there is a better and more capable unit but it is scratched up and has more cosmetic wear and one cheapo from Wal-Mart that looks like new. The reason it looks like new is because it is so dreadfully slow and was never used! I choose the one that “looks good” because I know that in the cheaper price range that is how people buy things. I am not saying this is a good thing but anyone catering to this type of buyer in the low-end market will pick up sales.
If it was me, I would rather have the better unit with scratches. I already have extra computers floating around that I have no use for though so don’t need them.
"the same sale on the 2015 has been extended to May 2nd so it didn't expire."
That is what desperation can do to a company.
If they don’t–magically–become a successful company by May 2nd, then the sale will likely be extended again…and again…and again…
As for hatchbacks, yeah I prefer a small car to be a hatch instead of a sedan. If you keep the traditional sedan layout, everything’s too small to offer much utility; OTOH, you can fit quite a bit into a small hatch. I guess I’d agree that a hatch “looks cheaper,” but I’m not deluding myself into believing a Civic is a substitute for a Maybach-Zeppelin.
