How to repair rusted bottom front fender---Please help!

Another idea involves the use of a couple of simple license plate screws, rather than self-tapping sheet metal screws.

The license plate screws, and the plate(s), is/are removed entirely from this vehicle and secured to a newer vehicle that has far fewer problems.

I’ll say, that is the best solution allthough the Mazda only have one problem.
And that’s what is between the licensplates.

Ok I bought the self tapping screws, so I just hammer it in and then use screwdriver to screw in?

I’ve made minor repairs to metal roofs with self tapping screw before. I just put the screw in the battery powered driver, hold it against the sheet metal, and they just screw right in, no need to do anything else.

George has it. They are intended to be installed by drill, not hammer. Go easy.

I suppose one could use a drill and a couple of pop-rivets if one had a drill and a pop-rivet tool, some pop-rivets, and could find metal on the car that is stronger than wet toilet paper.

Why I suggested a connecting material like strapping. There’s nothing that will hold for long close to where the fender would make contact.

If op uses a hammer, I think he’ll just punch a hole clean through that “sheet metal”
