I have a 2001 Honda Passport running great. Miles 160,000. Oil changed every 3mos. I understand that I need a new timeing belt. How much should this cost and where is the best place? A honda shop or any car garage? I live in Aurora CO.
Check the owner’s manual to verify when the belt should be replaced. Has it been replaced prior to this?
A good independent mechanic can change the belt and will almost certainly be less expensive than the dealer. I suspect you should also have the water pump replaced at the same time. It does not cost much more to be done now, but if you wait and need it in a few months, you will pay for almost all the same labor again.
