Honda cannot move with door open?

Better question is why did she open the door up and then back the car up like that???

Had a jeep that was towed in that we were trying to push into the shop that kept putting itself into park once it moved about a foot give or take, heck I thought either the transmission was coming apart or the rear end was coming apart, finally figured out the seatbelt had to be buckled for it to stay out of park…

Common to cars the electronic parking brakes. Opening the door in gear locks the brake so you can’t move. This is tbe new normal.

What if iNeutral?

Test it, but I think it will still set the brake.

Will do.
Being a registered tree-hugger and Greenie, and to not start a cold engine, over the years I have pushed manyehicles iNeutral withe driver’s door open and ready to push the brake pedal or pull the center Hand Brake.
Also when a friend’starter motor failed, I pushed her car from the door jamb, got in and placed in gear to turn thengine.

Try that in your Lexus with the engine running. If the seat belt is not fastened and you open the door while in drive or reverse, the parking brake will be applied.

If anyone needs a “push” to get through a drive-thru, show them how to fasten the seat belt.

Push on the top of a wheel and it applies twice as much pushing force due to leverage.

If I’m going to the night deposit or at the atm, I have to roll the window down and open the door to put the card in etc. I don’t drive a truck. It is in park though all the time.

Had a rental and couldn’t find the lever to release the brake. Finally stepped on the brake pedal and the parking brake released. I’d be happy if they quit trying to protect me so much.
