+1, except some states don’t necessarily subscribe to the “national” codes. When my brother and SIL moved to PA, they were shocked to find that their new state doesn’t require adherence to the National Electrical Code.
There are a lot of bass-ackward laws in PA…on the medical side especially. For instance, PA does not require Pharmacy Technicians to be certified or registered/licensed with the state.
Needless to say, Harrisburg hasn’t been staffed by geniuses for most of the past couple of decades
Thanks but that had nothing to do with what I was saying.
True…but the codes are there…Written almost exclusively by the insurance industry.
And, while this might have changed, when my brother & SIL first moved to PA, electricians also did not have to be licensed.
Hmmm…
No adherence to the National Electrical Code, with work carried out by people who may not be competent at their craft. What could possibly go wrong?
I did a quick Google search, things are…muddy as to whether this has changed or not. My guess is the state decided to let individual cities and boroughs make that decision
