Help! Want to buy an used car with $2500, trouble finding reliable car. Looking for Advice

I didn’t mean to imply that the perception was not deserved–most of the cars that my family and I have owned in my lifetime are Hondas and Toyotas!

It’s pretty much in line with what I have always maintained. If you want to get top dollar for any used car, spend at least as much time maintaining the body as well as the mechanics. The body often cost more to repair relative to the value of a car then the mechanics. A motor replacement (used) can sometimes be less then a good paint and body repair. Rust free is a must for any older car purchase.
