It depends on how much it revs up. If it revs from 600 to 800 rpm, that’s one thing. From 600 to 3000 rpm, that’s another.
Without knowing more, I’d suggest to trust your instincts on this one. Defer riding along with the bf in this car until the problem that concerns you is fixed.
