pace your self with the flow of traffic tha tis the safest way to go znd enjoy the ride.
It’s not that I’m speeding I’m just asking if my car is reliable enough to be going between 75-80 mph for 3 hours with A/C on. Maybe a break between that.
@Isabel Of course your car is reliable for that short a period. In the rest of the world your car is very often driven at those speeds. US speed limits happen to be very low by international standards.
Some years ago I drove a small Ford Escort for 4 hours at 100 mph on the German autobahns. The car rental company, Hertz, even told me how long it would take to drive to Amsterdam from Frankfurt at that speed.
Just make sure you check the oil, coolant and air in the tires before you leave.
@Docnick
Was that the semi truck drivers that done that? I read about that 55mph protest but never dug too deep into it
@bscar No, 4 guys in full size pickup trucks working for a car magazine who were trying to prove a point that 55 mph caused a massive loss in productivity to the country.
When combined with the “Speed Kills” billboard it totally confused visitors to the USA, especially Germans and from those countries with high speed limist. One Swede, driving through Texas and seeing one of those and not much further a billboard announcing a special on guns and holsters from a sporting goods store, kept asking himself what kind of society this was.
Can be very dangerous. I had an old guy try to enforce the 55 limit on an 8 lane expressway one morning. He was in the fast lane and I was behind him and he flashes his hand twice indicating the 55 speed limit to me. I just ignored him and went around him when I could. I’m even tempered but that kind of stupidity could get him shot or run off the road. Same thing with a couple semis enforcing an early lane change due to construction. Now there are at least signs telling people about the zipper method instead of forcing a single lane miles ahead.
