Delayed warm-up is one sign of a thermostat that is stuck open. Had that one before.
Had it before too, many times. But it does not reach a lower equilibrium temperature than it should, nor does the result depend on the outside temperature, as you would expect for an open thermostat. It’s the same at 0 as it is at 35 (F).
But you’ve got some other HVAC problem, right? So maybe fixing that will fix this problem.
OK, car diagnosed. Two problems:
- Bad seal on thermostat. Close enough to the “partly open” idea.
- Heater control valve was not reconnected on recent engine replacement job.
