Hail to the Chief!

Ronald Reagan put the United States on a course toward being a third world nation and Mark Levine and the Right Wing Radio Gurus deify him. It’s amazing.

Border security…who has really done it ?

The new ruling in favor of Obama’s right to detain Americans in military custody comes a week after a federal judge struck it down, and ruled it unconstitutional. The administration appealed the decision and won.

Halliburton Confirms US Concentration Camps Ready to Detain up to 2 Million “Terrorists”

Military given go-ahead to detain US terrorist suspects without trial

Do you feel safe Now?

So the military which has the most appropriate assets, can’t kill or capture American born terrorists like Anwar Al- Awlakii who have fled abroad, what is left ? And yes, if I were a US born terrorist suspect who had fled the country, I would not feel safe…as it should be. Have we a better suggestion ? The Army will not arrest you in Toledo. That’s up to the FBI and the federal courts…

Me thinks things are taken out of context.

I wonder what would happen if they let those who live along the border shoot the illegals as they crossed over.
We might have fewer try to cross if they see one of their friends get shot in the face. We might even have fewer drugs getting smuggled in from Mexico, too, as their traffickers would dwindle down.

You don’t think that wouldn’t get a lot of innocent American civilians killed ? Drug smugglers are very well armed. It sounds like the John Wayne thing to do…but chances are they will, or some one will start shooting back or worse. I’m sure they have thought of and dismissed that idea on their own. The only populace that would dwindle are the innocent civilians.

You mis read the post, The military now has the right to detain any US citizen indefinitely, suspected of terrorism with out trial. Was signing Walkers recall petition a terrorist act, to Walker yes.
If I can’t see it it does not happen says Walker, Bad enough a group of four or more needs to get a permit 72 hours in advance and be responsible for any costs Just to go into the capitol building, Too bad for you and your wife and 2 kids, a place owned by the people .If you are a spectator to the rotunda singers, a group that has sung protest songs since act 10 and been getting tickets for being a group of more than 4 without a permit, and the judge dismisses them, you can now get a ticket for just watching. And walker is being preened for president. WAKE UP SHEEPLE!

I believe it applies to Al Qaeda members and their allies, whether they be American citizens or not. The Senate wanted to keep that provision in to maintain the military’s roll in dealing with this particular terrorist organization which is international and consolidating there imprisonment under the military was justified. Did you read it differently ? All other suspected terrorist not affiliated with Al Qaeda would be treated as I said. I still don’t think that expanding this beyond that until it plays out is worth. " do you feel safe ? " the president, who is the commander and chief, wants more flexibility then this particular finite ruling.

The definition was suspected terrorist, no more no less, Now you decide who is a suspected terrorist, not who decides, who knows, until your neighbor is in jail,
Martin Niemoller observation from Nazi Germany.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out–
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out–
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out–
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me–and there was no one left to speak for me.

It still applies to suspected Al Qeada and it’s allies !

Where was this fear when Rumsfeld et al commissioned the building of this facility back in 2006 and actually detained all “suspected” terrorists with no due process. Why is it a problem now when those responsible for 911 are now actually brought to justice ? Where is the indignation of killing and displacing over one million Iraqis for no reason what so ever. Are their lives more or less important then then overblown fears of a democracy struggling with due process while trying to capture the real Al Qeada terrorist instead of make believe threats of the Bush years who did the same in practice. At least now, you get a chance to see and judge this struggle Instead of being deceived and lied to in the past.
ACLU in action !

@dagosa you ask questions I would love to answer but can not. Sure I could insert a conspiricay theory like corporations are people, and even a \proposal to let corporations vote
Montana Bill Would Give Corporations The Right To Vote

amend.org if you wish to protest corprations are people, since they are people now I want to send them to jail.

Like I said, some of us didn’t like what was going on in the Bush years either and Homeland Security, checking emails, library card info., and on and on. And some of us would like to see a hard line in the sand now and not a further erosion of our rights and protections. Not to bring it up again but if you look at proposed legislation in Minnesota at least, there are tons of ways to be labeled a criminal for life with many rights thrown out the window. And you can make a case for any of them such as drugs, domestic violence, dishonorable discharge, threatening someone, and so on, but it may become easier and easier as time goes on. Some of us low key, law abiding, non-conformists just don’t trust the people in charge and think some of you ought to worry more.

@Barkydog
I like the way you think. Maybe we could give the right to vote to the cigarette manufactures, then hold the CEO personally responsible for a few million deaths. Nice trade off. I would go for it instead being able to hide behind corporate laws. But then, manufacturers would be afraid to build anything. I agree, table it.

I am very worried, @Bing. Homeland Security is a political scam from every angle. If the FBI and CIA failed with regard to 9-11 the President should have immediately re-staffed upper management and congressional oversight should have been greatly increased. But instead the “less government is better” Republican President threw redundancy into the confusion.

@rod
Soon after being sworn in, Bush was busy planning the Iraq invasion before 911. If it had to do with forgiven policy and it didn’t have “Saddam” written on it, they probably paid it no mind.
http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/01/10/oneill.bush/index.html?_s=PM:ALLPOLITICS

It was my opinion/observation that Bush II went into office determined to wipe the slate clean for his father’s 2 mistakes; 1) “No new taxes-read my lips” and 2) the cut and run from Iraq.

In January, Bush instructed his NSC (National Security Council ) to begin drawing up plans to invade Iraq. That was their focus. Information from the CIA goes through the NSC as the council is chaired by Bush. It’s apparent to me too, their focus was elsewhere and reports from the CIA concerning Al Qeada intent were simply disregarded as was brought out by the 911 commission.

Re: American Natives:
Presidents A. Lincoln, Andrew Johnson, US Grant, R.B Hayes, J. Garfield, C.Arthur, were US Republican Presidents spanning from 1860-1893 who were not kind to the the American Natiives.
And then we have Jack Abramoff who made the word Scam a household word. And we wonder why the Natives are suspicious of the Republicans
or Democrats
or Independents

Anyone want to do a Treaty?

Yep,I think its time the Presidency stops being about personal vendettas and views. Is it possible that we can get an honest Guy or Gal in there who would do whats best for the country, despite thier personal preferrences?-Kevin

Governing is like herding cats, @Kevin.
