Hail to the Chief!

Thanks for a little sanity and reminding us of a that @MikeInNH.
The biggest threat to our democracy is our unwillingness to change and adapt to modern times. To depend on our founding fathers for guidance in such matters as gun control, is akin to accepting suggestions from them on traffic laws. A gun in every door scabbard and drive down the middle in the wheel ruts.
Maybe in Texas or Maine and with the Armish, maybe. Sorry “texases”.

Bing, you are so right about the definitions,I’m scarred for life now on something that should have never came before the Commonwealth, now I have the sword of Damocles hanging over my head for the next four years. One nice looking older single mom, who lived in a very nice house got by with 15, non consecutive days in jail for 19 counts of basiclly the same charge I had.
The law is very flexible if you are well liked, the Kangaroo courts need a little revamping and the laws need to evolve with the times ,TJ was right, but now its hard to find people of sufficient character to trust with the constitution.(Apparently in the area where I live its alright to beat someone into a coma if you take a year long anger management consuling(which you can get out of in 6 months if everything works out)-Kevin

"basically the same charge"
With all due respect, that wasn’t you that determined that.

" it’s all right to beat some one into a coma…" pretty much depends on who it was.

I get the feeling you think you were wronged by the justice department where you live. The law is more flexible, not when you are well liked but can surround yourself with money, money to pay for better representation then you had. Unfairness in the courts is more determined by access or lack of it. Access is more determined by wealth. You want to avoid appearing there…don’t mess up.

No Dag,but the charge reads the same-this person had a house of minors drinking, carousing and who knows what else(but thats history)“its not who you know;but who you know”.
Well it seems vehicular homocide in this area carries less of a sentence then 3.2 grams of Marijuana-but you are right enough money will sure ease the sentencing, the good ol boy club, sure looks out for its own-Kevin

Money will insulate you from just about anything…ask OJ and Ted…when alive.

There is a diminishing hope in my heart in truth, justice and the American way, truth is compromised, justice is supplanted by corporate dollars, the American way now is screw everyone but me, but myself and others continue to propagate the American dream of justice and liberty for all, sit on the sidelines and watch all that our fathers died for erode, or stand up and say I have my rights and you cannot take them away.

Speaking of buying justice, I met a local drug dealer in the mid 90s who had murdered 2 people and beat another to near death and had been free on bond for many years as his attorney filed motion after motion while witnesses moved, died, and memories faded. The story was he dropped off $4,000 cash each month to the attorney who said he had nothing to worry about as long as he kept up the payments. About 2 years ago that druggie died of a heart attack according to the coroner and he had never gone to trial.

Not ALL places in this country are that corrupt.

Desperation breeds corruption, Mike. And when a few are outrageously wealthy while the vast majority are desperately poor the world seems to have a Castro, a Hitler, Huey P Long. And if the economy continues to pour wealth to the few and poverty to the many in this country should we be surprised if we find ourselves with a leader with vastly progressive plans?

Progressive…hmmm. Do you mean also liberalism in the true sense of the word. The one founded on liberty and equality for all…

We dont have to do it right now,but I do believe this economy will have to shift to a spacemans economy from a cowboys economy ,people (conservatives) dont believe it but mankind can vastly alter the climate of an area-case in point Africa. If this this" firewalled " economy doesnt change the catastrophe will be be far reaching-Kevin

I don’t disagree with what you’re saying…just that LOCAL politics (at least here in NH) doesn’t have the power problems your community seems to have. Corruption is easy to weed out in local governments. Our small town votes on EVERYTHING. We don’t have selectmen or a mayor. We have a budget committee and a town council. They can make recommendations, but it goes to election and we vote on it. Sure we’ve had corruption…but when it’s local it’s easier to detect and eliminate.

There is a great deal of opportunity for those who are ambitious and determined and willing to work to find success in this country, Mike. But some of the most lucrative opportunity is in taking advantage of the less fortunate. There is a de facto caste system in many states that dumps the greatest suffering from economic downturns on the lowest classes while leaving the ‘gentry’ quite comfortable.

OMG-RK ,you are so right, one of these days God is going to have a tribunal and" Lucy gonna have some splaining to do" I’ve always maintained its not morally or socially right to take advantage of the situation.VA is one of the " right to work states" and you know the way that goes,we dont have any leverage now with the flood of migrant workers a good excuse for the entrepenuers to hang onto thier loot-Kevin

I see the hate mongering blaming the poor and entitlement programs sure the 47% of takers are on social security or medicaid, but they paid into the system, and because you get social security and medicaid you are now a taker. The tax cuts for the wealthy at the expense of the regular citizen is a greater crime imho.
John Stewart had a prety good recap on Paul Ryan, a next possible President.

No.63 ,require that all think tank members have relevence and knowledge of what they are asked to do-Kevin

@Barkydog
Unfortunately, Ryan is but one of many flawed candidates the republican party tries to throw out there. These candidates all have one thing in common. They are secure in the false notion that this highly evolved technological society has no recording devices.

They are secure in the false notion that this highly evolved technological society has no recording devices.

And you’ll have people who are faithful Ryan followers who still won’t believe it if you had a video of him saying it.

Remember when Sara Palin was here in Boston and she made one of her THOUSANDS of uneducated comments…“Saying that Paul Revere was riding to tell the people that British were here to take your guns from you.” Her idiot followers then decided to go into WikiPedia to CHANGE history to match Sara Palin’s view.

Intelligent thinking people won’t follow someone like Ryan or Palin.

Both are still afraid of the “Soviet Union” ; something no longer in existance.

Both parties sure havent over extended themselves on candidates,I would say one of Mr.Obamas strentghs was,He got the voters to come out,I suppose He was a disappointment to some, because He didnt loot the treasury.I honestly like the man, cant say the same for Al Gore, when someone condescends I tend not to take them seriously,I cant believe some of the people the republicans field, these times are so dynamic, apparently a lot of candidates dont have the time to keep up-Kevin
