I have an electric golf cart that takes six 6 volt deep cycle batteries. Can I use 6 volt batteries that are marine batteries used on boats?
It would depend on many factors. Will they fit, do they have the capacity. Are they designed for similar duty? (That is are the marine batteries used to start an engine or supply accessory power or to provide motive power.
I have seen 6 volt batteries larger than any golf cart I have ever seen.
They will work (if they will fit). You need to be sure about how the original batteries are wired. Does the cart run on 6, 12 or 18 volts? You need to maintain that configuration…
If you limit the discharge to 50% of the batteries capacity, they will last MUCH longer. The marine batteries should be the deep cycle type or they will not last very long…
