i have 128,000 miles on the van. it began to start hard, so i figured i finally needed a tuneup. i had new plugs, wires, rotor , and cap installed. i also have run fuel injection cleaner with each tankful of gas for the last three fillups. it still is starting hard. could it be the fuel pump or check valve in the fuel system?
If you mean it takes longer for it to start, it could mean there’s a problem with the fuel pump check valve. To find out, turn the ignition to the run position so that the dash lights come on for two seconds and then turn the ignition off. Repeat this about a half a dozen times and then try starting the engine. If the engine starts right up, it pretty much confirms there’s a problem with the fuel pump check valve.
