I have a 1994 Geo Prizm. I got the timing belt changed and the timing belt tensioner replaced. Ever since then the engine shakes under a load, specifically when I am making a right turn (like getting onto a freeway cloverleaf entrance). I took it into the shop and they said it was the motor mounts. I had them replaced, had the left CV joint replaced, had the right front axle replaced, still have the problem. Timing belt is put on correctly, not off a tooth or anything. Could it possibly be the harmonic balancer? Any other ideas?
If the balancer were the problem you’d feel the shake all the time. I don’t think it’s the engine.
The motor mount on the passenger side has to be removed to replace the timing belt. Perhaps it’s not tight, or is damaged.
I had all of the motor mounts replaced about 6 months ago. The problem was happening before I had this done and is still happening. I’ve been driving the car with the problem for about 40,000 miles now.
