But if I don’t know what to look for in the TOC or Index - yeah, it’s go to the web and type “why does my [year/make/model] do this thing…” It normally takes about 10 seconds to at least figure out what it’s called.

Which could answer many of the repeat questions Forums like this get in less time then it takes to log in and make a post.

Y’all underestimate me, I guess. @db4690, yeah, I know who “Scotty” is. What a dope.

For your year/make/model there are forums. (For Prius there is Priuschat, e.g.). They are full of people who have already had the same questions/problems that you’ve had. And many of them are not idiots. Spend some time on them and you figure out who the idiots are. Just like here.

And you don’t just listen to what any old schmoe (like Scotty) has to to say. You spend some time looking at what’s out there.

But if it’s just finding out something like that an occasional noise while backing up is the "Vehicle Proximity Notification System.” Not too complicated.
