Ford want to move to fixed pricing - opinions?

My neighbor calls the city animal control department when he sees a cat sneaking around. Cats that are not claimed by their owner in 30 days or adopted are destroyed. Some people like mice more than cats.

Reminds me of when tried to make a squirrel my pet. 80 degrees and had my parka and gloves on. Trapped him in the garage and got him in a fish net. Instantly wished I wouldn’t have done that. Finally got him free and went inside to safety.

Believe it or not…Disney’s security is extremely good. They were WAY AHEAD of the curb on terrorist threats then most cities/states after 911. They were also one of the first organizations in the world to train their people on spotting child trafficking.

Oh, I did not doubt that their security is good, even outstanding. But the Disneyland that Walt envisioned and created is not the Disneyland of today. Walt balanced “Family Fun against Corporate Profits” and Family Fun came first… Today Corporate Disney is all about Profits and I’m not even sure Family Fun is a consideration…

And when a Disney employee says to me, “Have a Disney Day…” I say, “Thank you, have yourself a Double Disney Day…”

Google it… It will open your eyes to a completely new vision of the “Wonderful World of Disney…”

We went to Disney World a couple of months ago. It was expensive but we had a lot of fun. We were surprised at how good the food was at all the restaurants we visited. Our daughter’s family went for two weeks. Her in laws were there for the first week and we went for the second. They had to go home the day we arrived because our daughter caught Covid-19. They were comped to days they missed and could use them any time within one year. We stayed and enjoyed the trip. They are going back next March and we will go too. It costs a lot to produce a first class amusement park like that and I don’t begrudge them fees they charge.

I should clarify I was talking Disney world not Disney land. Back when we started going most years back in 1981, we could get a three day pass for a little over $100. Camp ground was $19. Family hotels were about $100. Yeah they’ve gotten nuts over the last ten years, but that’s not my biggest objection now. We put our 8 year old on at day program called inside Disney. I would never let an 8 year old out of my sight now.

It’s a company, just like any other company that has shareholders. Of course, it’s about profit. Show me the company that isn’t about profit. I’ve been to Disney World many times. Yes - it can be expensive. If you don’t like their model, then don’t go. Have you tried Universal studios or Sea World?

It’s has been over ten years but we wanted to try something different and went to Universal Studios instead of Disney World. It was a bit less expensive since we stayed at the Crowne Plaza with my hotel points but the park tickets were still expensive. I prefer Disney World.

That is $334 in 2023 dollars. Today that costs about $400 but there are a lot more options than 40 years ago.

There may have been a few, but they surely wouldn’t have lasted very long. As stated, corporations are “all about profit”… if they want to be successful in the long term.

Great , the employee has to say that and instead of just saying 'Thanks ’ you have to try and be clever . Those poor people who have to use corporate directed phrases all day get really tired of hearing nonsense .

A lot of them are more about pushing their political agendas then profits, that is why some major company’s stocks have taken a hit lately… And that’s all I am saying about that… Take it as you may…

But you are correct, they will not make it long if no profits are involved…

Political agenda? Oh Please!!!

A corporation’s political agenda is really about their bottom line. There are many that donate to both major parties so that they get their ears when an issue pertinent to their ability to make money is at stake. Owners or executives may donate exclusive to one party but only with their own money. If it’s a sole proprietorship it might get fuzzy but all the owner has to do is pay himself enough to make the donation personally.

Correct. Politics only come into play for the companies bottom line.

Our company has government contracts, so we are actually forbidden from donating to any party. Individuals who work for the company may, but the company as a whole can’t.

Many times a company may take a moral stand on certain social issues. But that’s NOT political. It’s to do with morality. 30 years ago, I worked for Digital Equipment co. The company took a MORAL stand to not support the Apartheid government of South Africa. They pulled jobs and much of their market from South Africa. Many other companies started to do the same thing. Many people considered it a political move. It wasn’t political. It was about morality.

Disney support LBGT community is NOT political…it’s about MORALITY. Too bad there’s some people who have a problem with that.

You did not Google the meaning did you? It was not a Disney inspired saying, it was created by the frustrated employees that hate their job and did not want to get fired for saying what they really meant to say… So I say again, Google it… Not all the employees say it and if Disney is now requiring it to be said, listen to the way it is said, check the attitude that it is said with…

So, all I can say is, “Bless your heart” (Google it…)

Even though you weren’t responding to me, I just googled “Bless your heart”

I would just caution getting on board with the latest moral fad. If you look at what South Africa is like now, is that really moral? More like a total breakdown of civilized society. It only takes a few people in the right places to ruin a company or any organization. Back to cars maybe, as long as they are still around.
