Fix to the CAT to get SMOG passed?

You don’t have a Type R so what does that have to do with your problems ?

Ah yes, another fool who “knows what he’s got” and thinks people will pay fantasy pricing for his used car. Even in today’s crazy used car market, no one is paying anywhere near $30k for a 21 year old car with 160,000 miles, which probably didn’t cost this much even when new. The fact that the Craigslist ad was posted 30 days ago–or perhaps renewed 30 days ago–proves what I just said: the market isn’t willing to pay anything close to this seller’s asking price. Just like all these fools who post a beat-up old Toyota pickup with over 250,000 miles, needs new engine, and they still want over $3k for it.

Your CAT needs a new diet if he smells like rotten eggs.Feed him some Purina :laughing:

There is a semi-feral Tom cat we are trying to get fixed, too smart to go into the required carrier.

No it didn’t smell, so didn’t need a surgery nor purina - the new diet was provided by new injectors - details on post #26:
Test 21-Final → 2021 (prior 2 tests)
15mph 81 → 357-> 578 (from highest 578 to 81)
25mph 44 → 1079-> 639 (from highest 1079 to 44)

Anybody and ask for any price that they want to, but a pattern of actual sales have to be established and evaluated

Here is a sale at $18k with 47k:

Okay . . . :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

your car has more than 3x the mileage as that other one

No offense, but I suspect that other car is in better shape than yours

If I’m wrong, please post pictures proving it :smiley:

Why do you keep doing this . . . ?! :thinking:

I am a car enthusiast!

Actually, I am no way trying to compare my car - apple vs orange as these two cars are GS-R → meaning VTEC engine. Mine is DOHC nor my car is in the market.

First of all, the car on BaT sold for $17,550, not $18k. Second, it had only 47k miles. Third, BaT is the most expensive place to buy or sell a car. A car with a BaT selling price of X number of dollars might only be worth 50-60% of that price on Craigslist. So the car which that guy wants $30k for on Craigslist really only has a fair market value of $7-8k. Of course, he “knows what he’s got” and doesn’t want to hear that.

I also look at the Bring a Trailer site and really wonder what is wrong with those people paying way over market for some of those vehicles .

GS-Rs were common. Fake Type-Rs that were actually LSs were a lot more common than the real ones. :wink: Type-Rs were rare as hell. Making any sort of comparison between any normal Integra and a Type-R is like concluding a 383 Road Runner is worth half a million bucks because someone sold a Superbird for that much.

All that said, the solution is to replace the cat. Trying to apply weird fixes from Scotty Kilmer and expecting them to work at all, much less be a permanent solution, is unrealistic. That guy is not interested in making a channel that gets things right. He’s interested in making a channel which gets people to watch, and “exposing secrets that lying mechanics don’t want you to know” is how he does it. He’s the automotive video equivalent of the National Enquirer.

@bcohen2010, how does BaT prices compare with that of eBay Motors?

In case you have not read my posting #26, my car was fixed by replacing injectors and it passed smog with flying colors. Problem solved. Car smoked like how it was 10years ago.

The purge& Vent valves had high resistance so replaced them too. Yeah, the car seemed to have celebrated its 21st B’Day putting a ding in my pocket as I am not ASE certified (and the shop had closed its doors).

Then mark this as Solved so people will know that . Very few are going to read all 54 posts before replying.
