In a reasonable world those that create big utility additions should pay the incremental cost for added electricity. Unfortunately we do not live in a reasonable world…
If our governor’s plan is approved by the state legislature, then NJ would be at the epicenter of that “reasonable world”.
Projected new large data centers in the US is expected to be OVER 10,000 by 2030. We currently have about 4,000 which would put the total over 14,000. That’s not counting the smaller data centers. Each of these large data centers consume MAGA WATTS of power annually.
We can expect energy prices to rise significantly this decade. This is the primary reason I invested in Solar which is covering over 90% of my yearly electric bill. Grid usage is getting so bad many areas are looking at restarting abandoned Coal plants.
Some of these new data centers are trying to offset their grid usage by installing massive solar farms or windmills (which this current administration is against).
