Engine "ticking" briefly

The 5.3L engine in my 2000 Silverado makes a “ticking” sound briefly when I put it in gear and stops after I’ve driven a short distance. Sticky valve lifter or improper oil filter??

There are 3 TSB’s that could apply to your truck

  1. 01-06-01-028 Engine knock on cold start up,carbon built up related,take no action.

  2. 02-06-01-029. Needle bearings from rocker arm found in oil pan. Repalce rocker arms.

  3. 07-06-01-016. Engine noise/damage from faulty oil filter.
