The 3.0 Vulcan in my Ford Ranger overheats when sitting at idle. Temp slowly rises until it is up to the maximum mark. It is rather gradual, but it is a problem nonetheless. When I’m driving, the engine temp is normal, and when I shut it off, the coolant sounds as if it is boiling. Coolant levels are fine, and coolant is not very old. Any ideas? Thanks.

Check for a malfunctioning fan clutch.
