I have a 1996 Chevrolet pickup, two wheel drive emission label YDR. When my truck sits overnight gas from the carburetor drains back into the gas tank. It takes full choke and a log of cranking to start. The carburator has been replaced but that did not help the problem.
Carburetors and 1996,somethings not right here. Perhaps a truck for export to Mexico?
In 1996 the LT1-based “Vortec” line of engines were standard across the board. They all feature multi-port fuel injection. Either there’s crate engine in this truck or it’s not a 1996.
