Yeah way back at the Y in the road. Guess people got tired of batteries, electrics motors and fires and changed the subject.
This is probably one of those deals where if you actually change the oil, it will never be a problem for most people. Even a the most basic store brand filter and oil is going to meet or exceed modern standards.
I think you are correct however about shying away from those bulk-purchase no-brand-name cheapies. When a manufacturer stamps their brand name on the filter, that gives them a big incentive to make sure their filter does a good job & causes no engine damage.
