i seem to have what feels like low brake pressure in my 79’ Malibu El Camino. i recently replaced the motor but didn’t encounter this issue until about a month later.
You could always rebuild the master cylinder or replace it. In any event, make sure you bench bleed it before it’s installed.
Also check rear brake shoe wear and adjustment. Worn or out of adjustment rear drum brakes can mimic a failing master cylinder.
