Quite a few years ago, a friend (who is Asian) hit a deer shortly after leaving my house, and he wound-up in a ditch. He called me and I was there w/in a few minutes with my flashlight, to guide traffic around his wreck.
A few minutes later, a State Trooper–who was black–arrived on the scene and he was the epitome of courtesy, concern, and professionalism. A few minutes later, one of the local yokel cops arrived, and the Trooper went on his way.
The local yokel cop was a complete j-e-r-k who accused my friend of reckless driving because the deer had somehow limped away, and there was “no evidence of a deer hit”.
I pointed-out the deer’s blood on both the car and the pavement to the local cop and he slowly changed his tune, but the lack of professionalism of that j-e-r-k was really disturbing.
Yeah I try to be fair but that local kid that gave me a ticket on my 50th birthday kinda grated on me. Small town, late at nigh, street empty, going 40 in a 30. We had been in South Dakota working an auction for a dead relative. That’s how I spent my birthday. I thought the guy could have at least said something like sorry pops but I’m behind in my quota tonight.
My wife has been stopped a couple times. Not far from there she got stopped in a speed trap coming home from night school. She cried.. I told her everyone knows that’s a speed trap, even her now. That dang ole Lincoln just couldnt slow down. The cop was the father of the school suip. Husband. Some time after that, she was late for school and got pulled over. The idiot made her sit in the back of the squad car as her students walked by looking at her. She went to the chief to complain who was a former classmate. Didn’t get very far. I made some points by telling her to take it like a man. Ah ha ha. Took a while to heal that wound.
