I’m thinking there was some air (or other gaseous substance) in the original fluid and just not noticed during the bleeding process. It might have been dissolved into the fluid, and only popped into a bubble when pressure was applied to the brakes. In my DIY’er experience, if the fluid reaches that level of appearance, expect to be replacing the master cylinder and possibly some calipers in the not-too-distant future.
